In these pictures the Elanra Samoyeds were called upon by MoreFM, the local radio station, to decide who was going to be the winner of $400 worth of seats for a Rugby Union match held in Rotorua between the Lions and the Bay Of Plenty Steamers.
All the finalists had been told beforehand was that they had to turn up wearing old clothes. The station had been going on all week about how difficult it was proving to be to obtain live lions from the Auckland Zoo for this contest.
On the morning of the contest each contestant was plastered with dog food, and the dogs had to clean the contestants up. Naturally the first one cleaned up was to be the winner. In this case the food used was a mixture of tuna, noodles, and vegetables which, by the time it was spread over them, looked like it had already been digested once. But only one contestant was game enough to actually bear her belly and have the mixture plastered onto her bare skin and the Samoyeds much preferred to lick the contestant's body rather than try and eat off their clothes, so the bare-bellied contestant was the eventual winner. She deserved it though, because she really enjoyed herself and managed to keep two dogs with her all the time. |
