Shari passed over to be with Sabre on 7th June 2002. She seemed to have quite an affinity with the number 7. One of our favourite photos of her was taken when Sabre was 7 years old, Shari was 7 months old, and Sheba was 7 weeks old.
She was the leader of our pack and we had 7 bitches living together. Strangely enough it is hoped at this time that Deedee is carrying a bitch that would have been number 8 in two weeks time, but Shari has made sure there can again only be 7. She had 8 male dogs running with her but only got on with 7 of them. She only tolerated Nilam.
It is 7 months since she was diagnosed with mammary cancer last November and the vet told us that death would be quick. Shari must have decided she wanted another 7 months with us.
In 1995 Shari's heart-beat was increased from 40 - 74 beats per minute with Natural Remedies in order to keep her going again while she was awaiting a Pacemaker. She picked up so much that the Pacemaker was not necessary. That was 7 years ago.
We had dearly hoped she would hang around to help Deedee raise her first litter. Not being able to have litters herself she always loved to share in raising all the Elanra babies, whether they were puppies, kittens, lambs or human. She treated them all the same. She loved them all.
Shari always lived life to the full. Our lives have been enriched through knowing her, living with her, loving her and being loved by her. She had much to teach and she made sure that was achieved.
At this time there is a big gap at Elanra, a hole that no other will fill, but it was time for Shari to rejoin her old pal, Sabre.
Fly free, litte spirit.
